Get Involved in St. Johns!

  • Music Ministry

Our Music Director, Alex Nguyen, conducts the St. John's Choir consisting of parishioners and professional musicians. The choir sings a range of music, from traditional hymns and choral classics to African American Spirituals to Jazz to Country Music and everything in between. If you're interested in singing in our choir, contact Alex. Visit our Music Page for more info.

  • Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry is a huge component of life at St. John's. Our ministry is coordinated by Mrs. Chelsy Dehart, our Youth and Family Coordinator, and utilizes the StorymakersNYC curriculum. Prior to coming to St. John's, Chelsy served as the Director of Youth and Family at Calvary-St. George’s Church in Manhattan for 8 years, and the Lead Educator for StorymakersNYC for 2 years. She enjoys making sure the Good News of the Gospel meets our littlest ones right where they are, and working with kids and their families to help foster a connection to Christ through hands-on crafts that engage the imagination. If you have any questions about the Youth Ministry here at St. John's, email Chelsy.

  • Adult(ish) Group

If you’re a young adult-at-heart and down for breweries, ball games, spontaneous hangs, service projects, and any excuse to gather, this is your crew. Stay in the loop for our next outing—reach out to Jennifer Mills!

  • Summer Hangs

Each Summer from June through August, the St. John's Community meets outside on the church patio for a barbecue, a beverage, and good conversation. Summer Hangs are typically on the third Saturday of the month, weather-permitting. All are welcome! Contact Rev. Ben for more information.

  • Hiking Club

From May through September, St. John's organizes a Hiking Club that goes on a monthly hike to various places outside New York City, including Rockefeller State Park and Old Aqueduct Trail. Members carpool and/or take public transportation for a day of fellowship and community out in nature. Those interested in the Hiking Club should contact Rev. Ben.

  • Christian Education

Join us after our Sunday services for lively, thought-provoking discussions on the Bible, theology, and spirituality. We’ve explored entire books of the Bible, wrestled with challenging passages that weren’t preached on, and engaged with works by thinkers like Rowan Williams, Fleming Rutledge, James Baldwin, and William Stringfellow. Our conversations are both deep and fun because we value building community as much as learning together.

All are welcome! Contact Rev. Ben for more info.
